About Us
We are a family business based in Opua with a highly skilled and experienced team. We are ideally positioned in the Bay of Islands marina and boatyard to carry out work on both local and international visiting boats.
Services
We carry out a wide range of repairs and alterations to GRP and wooden vessels. Whether it be storm damaged, accidental damage, general wear and tear or a simple leak . All work considered.

Opua Boat Builders have done many jobs on our old wooden bridgedecker over the years including repairs, new deck and refurbishment. The most recent job was removing the rails and sanding and varnishing. They look perfect.

My wife Janet and I had wanted for an extended swim platform on our 40’ launch for some time. We feel fortunate to have connected with Graeme at Opua Boatbuilders for the job. Graeme and his team were very patient with us as they walked us though some possibilities. We ended up with a nice simple duckboard with a bait station, BBQ stand and a nice hidden ladder for reboarding from the water. Also included was nice flip away seat on the stern for Janet to fish from.
While on the Hardstand Opua boatbuilders were able to pull together a crew to refinish all the brightwork. They all worked tirelessly every time the sun came out and sometimes when it didn’t. Despite serious weather delays they got the job done in a timely manner.
Coordination between Graeme and the other contractors on the marina was very good. All the jobs came together without a lot of fuss. Everything is done now the boat looks great and works the way it should.
